Warley Place - An Essex Wildlife Trust Reserve.

How and when to find us

The reserve is open to Essex Wildlife Trust members during daylight hours, seven days a week, and to the general public on the open days listed.

To obtain access non-members should contact:

  • Fiona Agassiz (01277 230436),
  • John Cannell (01277 217236)

By Car

The entrance to Warley Place is 2 miles from Brentwood High Street on the B186, i.e. the road leading south out of Brentwood past the railway station. It is on the junction with Warley Road (which leads to Harold Wood), easily identifiable by the war memorial on an island and the Thatchers Arms public house. When driving from Brentwood you may wish to go round the island owing to the bend at that point that restricts sight of oncoming traffic.

The entrance is via the gate alongside the Thatchers’ car park. Please drive through and park in the reserve car park, which is a hundred metres along the drive.

If you have a satellite navigation system just set it to post code CM13 3JF. This should be Great Warley Street. If requested, enter house number 1. Do not use the pub car park unless you are intending to go in for a drink or a meal.

There is limited parking space on the reserve so we would ask large groups of people attending to share cars where possible and to contact Fiona Agassiz (01277 230436) or John Cannell (01277 217236) to ensure their visit does not clash with another large party.

By Bus

The number 269 bus runs past Brentwood Railway Station but the service only operates approximately every two hours so you will need to check the timetable before using it.

If you wish to take a party round Warley Place or your organisation would like an illustrated talk on the reserve please contact the chair of the Management Committee, Fiona Agassiz, on 01277 230436 or John Cannell on 01277 217236.
